Vinted seller fees explained

Vinted charges sellers nothing. No commission, no listing fee, no payment processing. The entire platform is funded by a Buyer Protection fee paid by the buyer on top of your price, plus optional paid promotions (Bumps and Wardrobe Spotlight) you can choose to buy.

Verified against Vinted's fee schedule 2026-10-16

The catch is that the buyer sees your price plus roughly 5% plus £0.70 (or €0.70) plus postage, so your listing competes on that higher total. A £20 item costs the buyer about £21.70 before shipping.

Notice how the effective rate falls as the price rises on platforms with fixed fees, and stays flat on pure-percentage platforms. That is the whole story of which marketplace suits cheap versus expensive items.

What changed recently

  • UK sellers now fall under HMRC digital platform reporting: Vinted reports sellers with 30+ sales or over €2,000 a year. This is a reporting rule, not a fee.

All platforms: fee change log.

How to pay less on Vinted

  • Since you keep 100% of the price, Vinted is the cheapest place to sell second-hand fashion in the UK and EU. Compare against Depop's 2.9% + £0.30.
  • Buyers pay the Buyer Protection fee and postage, so price slightly lower than you would on a seller-fee platform to land at the same buyer total.
  • Occasional personal selling is not taxable income in the UK, but keep records once you pass 30 sales a year because Vinted reports to HMRC.

Frequently asked questions

Does Vinted charge seller fees?

No. Personal sellers pay nothing to list or sell. Vinted makes money from the Buyer Protection fee paid by buyers and from optional promotions.

How much is the Vinted Buyer Protection fee?

About 5% of the item price plus a fixed £0.70 in the UK or €0.70 in the eurozone, paid by the buyer. Vinted adjusts the exact figure by order value.

Do I pay tax on Vinted sales in the UK?

Selling your own used items is not usually taxable. If you buy to resell or trade regularly, it may be. Vinted reports sellers with 30+ sales or €2,000+ to HMRC each year.
